About Paul

Paul Wiesner Physical Therapist in St. Helena

Paul Wiesner helps athletes and active adults get back to their sports and activities that they love without surgery, medications, or injections.

Paul recognizes that self-driven clients want as little down time while they are recovering, and uses evidence-based medicine to keep them training while rehabbing.

As an athlete growing up in the Napa Valley, Paul was sidelined multiple times with injuries that would have been managed more appropriately with a proper rehab program. Additionally, the proper rehab would have prevented future injuries, due to the deconditioning of full rest while injured. Paul’s goal is not only to get his clients back to living and playing, but to also prevent future injuries.

All too often, and the trend is accelerating, physicians prescribe rest, medications, and expensive imaging, (all of which have been shown to help promote a worse outcome) instead of prescribing physical therapy.

Paul founded Joint Physical Therapy to provide easier access for athletes and active adults to receive the care and guidance they need to continue their training, even while they are recovering.

Paul earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology, with an emphasis on exercise science from Sonoma State University. He then received his Doctor of Physical Therapy from Midwestern University.

About Courtney

Courtney is a strong believer in the power of daily movement and physical rehab leading people to recovery from injuries and pain. Through evidence based practice, Courtney works on providing her patients with education and motivation to become independent in their rehab process.

As a Napa Valley native, Courtney Helmer Harberts is passionate about her role as a Doctor of Physical Therapy at Joint Physical Therapy so she can help the community that she grew up in. Most of Courtney’s training centered around pain and injuries, but she continues to increase her breadth of knowledge in physical therapy in order to help as many clients as possible, especially with extra training and courses in vestibular/balance rehab and pelvic floor physical therapy.

Growing up as a student-athlete in Calistoga, Courtney developed a passion for living an active lifestyle and recognizing its importance in injury prevention, as well as recovery. Courtney has dabbled in a variety of sports growing up, such as basketball and flag football, but in recent years has developed a love for tennis, and is slowly dipping her feet into golf.

After initially getting her Bachelor of Education degree from Avondale College, it didn’t take long before she realized her love for working with people one on one, and re-routed her career. She then went on to get her Masters in Kinesiology from Cal Baptist University before pursuing her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Loma Linda University.

Emily Cozine specializes in treating pelvic floor dysfunction in all genders throughout the lifespan. Conditions like incontinence, constipation, pelvic pain, sexual dysfunction, and urinary urgency and frequency are more common than most people think and can actually be treated very effectively with specialized physical therapy. Very often people suffer for years before seeking treatment, and rarely are they informed that pelvic floor physical therapy can help. This is what drives Emily to continue educating herself on the wide range of diagnoses and treatments available. Her goal is to provide awareness, evidence-based education, and individualized care to every patient.

She received both her Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and her Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree from San Diego State University. She then went on to complete extensive training in pelvic floor rehabilitation of both male, female, and pediatric populations. She received her Pelvic Rehabilitation Practitioner Certification from Herman & Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute as well as her Women’s Health Clinical Specialist Board Certification from the American Physical Therapy Association. Emily also received a Certificate of Achievement in Obstetric Physical Therapy from the American Physical Therapy Association, which enabled her to provide more informed and comprehensive care to pregnant and postpartum populations. To complement her pelvic floor training, Emily also completed training in Visceral Manipulation through the Barral Institute and CranioSacral Therapy through the Upledger Institute.

When not studying, Emily enjoys cycling and trail running throughout Sonoma and Napa counties, cooking, and spending time with family.
